Fifth Grade Curriculum Highlights

The Seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church.

Studies include a hands-on exploration of Life Sciences, Earth Sciences and Physical Sciences. The students complete several projects, including the construction of toothpick bridges.

The highlight of our year is our unit on the Newbery Medal Books The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and Number the Stars.

Focuses on strengthening the students’ writing skills through a wide variety of creative writing projects. Grammar skills are reinforced daily with the Simple Solutions Grammar Program.

Social Studies
U.S. History

The students learn many new math concepts including fractions, decimals, percentages and geometry, while students continue to strengthen their previous math knowledge through the Simple Solutions MathProgram.   

Remind 101

Remind 101 is an app that allows me to easily communicate reminders to parents using text messages or e-mail.  Sign-up is completely free and you can set it up on as many phones and e-mail addresses as needed.

The main focus of our rules is respect and responsibility.

1.      Follow directions quickly.

2.      Raise your hand for permission to speak.

3.      Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.

4.      Make smart choices.

5.      Keep your dear teacher happy!

   Miss Leighann Duly earned a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Grove City College. Miss Duly enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, reading and working on craft projects.
